The Torrelavega industrial complex is Solvay’s flagship site in Spain, and the Group’s largest and oldest operational location in the country.

Operational since 1908, its almost 400 employees on the 78-hectare complex are dedicated to the production of soda ash, sodium bicarbonate and salt (sodium chloride). These are all products which serve as base chemicals for other industries.

Soda ash & derivatives, is one of Solvay’s star business divisions, with the Group being the world’s leading producer of soda ash and sodium bicarbonate. Solvay Torrelavega is one of the 12 centres responsible for this world-leading position, with annual sales in excess of €1,400 million.

These products are supplied to all kinds of companies, from multinationals to SMEs, in industries as varied as those of glass, paper, detergents, pharmaceuticals and food, both human and animal.
